Design Crush: Urban Grace Interiors

I've long admired Urban Grace Interiors, the Santa Rosa Beach based design firm founded by principle Erika Powell. Using a mix of old and new to effortlessly create relaxed and memorable spaces across the country. I'm most impressed that Erika and her team never neglect the architecture of the spaces they design. On her website, Erika mentions that " ignoring the architecture would be like a dressmaker making a dress without a proper fitting." Couldn't agree more.

Modern Lighting

I discovered something new about my design style the other day (of course while browsing through my thousand of pinned images). I have a thing for modern pendants, especially in more traditional settings. But not necessarily - case in point the first image below.

When I finally get around to my kitchen updating I'll have to find something like the light fixtures below to replace the tired, bulbous flushmount...
I just love everything about this space and I can't quite articulate the reason why. I'm not such a modern interior kind of gal but I'd happily breakfast here!
 Ditto.
A little French Provençal & blown glass pairing? Oui, s'il vous plaît.
Who doesn't love a sputnik? I would constantly think I'd wandered into the Metropolitan Opera for breakfast if these were in my kitchen.

House Lust: Eclectic Brownstone

I'm head over heels for this modern-day take on whimsical victorian interiors popular in the 19th century. Confused? Think english country estate. Designed by Jeffrey Bilhuber, this New York brownstone has some serious eclectic charm with contemporary pieces that still maintain a historic feel.

Get the Look: Summer Porch

Continuing on with Friday's rattan theme, I found this lovely summer porch and couldn't help but recreate this dreamy, sunny space. I'm particularly excited by my Spoonflower find, a Peter Dunham Fig Leaf look-a-like fabric, that would be used on the side chairs and as accent pillows.

Currently Obsessed

Please disregard anything I might have said about cheesy vintage rattan. Here are some delightful images which dispel these preconceived notions:

Efficient & Elegant Entryways

Whether you have a more formal foyer, well appointed mud room or a corner of a hallways there are several essentials that can transform an inefficient entryway into functional design.
 Start with a great table...
Add a mirror above....
Some storage below...
Need a place to slip into or out of boots and shoes? Have a seat on a chair, ottoman, or bench...
If you don't have a hall closet think about wall hooks or a coat-tree to keep coats, bags and umbrellas in line...
And finally, don't forget some love for the tabletop. Use trays and other vessels to contain the mail/key chaos!
