Beyond the Ikea Catalog

Lately my design mind has been gravitating towards clean-lined Scandinavian which might have something to do with just voraciously devouring finishing The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. For those of you who haven't read the books, during the events of the second novel the main female character secretly buys a 23-room flat in Stockholm. Then proceeds to furnish only three rooms with pieces from Ikea {visualized here}. Really...?

When I happend upon this gorgeous example of Scandinavian design I couldn't help but think of it as what Lisbeth's flat could have looked like had a designer been consulted. I don't know who belongs to this flat or the designer since I can't read Swedish but it's lovely and if they ever want to give it away for free I call dibs.

Look closely and you'll see that the whitewashed wood flooring is set in a chevron pattern... le sigh!
