Apartment Crush: Urban Oasis

While browsing through the photo galleries on Canadian House & Home's website I was reminded of the glamourous home of interior designer, Sabrina Linn. A combination of industrial bones with luxe and warm accents, Sabrina's loft is truly an urban oasis.  I'm a huge fan of industrial spaces but often they are either ultra modern or bohemian in feel while this loft is achieves a more traditional and luxurious space.

An inspiration board in the entry... heaven.

I'm not usually a fan of orange but those club chairs are spectacular combined with the neutral palette and gilded finishes.

Great use of space in the kitchen by doubling up on cabinets along one wall. Why not use some of that industrial scale height?

A place for everything and everything in its place. There's nothing quite like a well organized walk-in closet.

Love this cheerful outdoor space! It's tiny, but those of us who live in urban environments know that any amount of outdoor space is greatly appreciated.

The Art of the Bar Cart

My dining nook is rather boring in that the only items over there are my white table and equally white painted chairs. At first I was thinking of adding bookshelves but upon consideration I've decided against that plan; I'm afraid it would become too busy and create a feeling of claustrophobia. Instead I'm thinking a small bar area where I can store dinnerware, serving dishes and the rudimentary supply of alcohol I keep on hand {mostly wines for cooking}.

Here's some inspiration I've found via Pinterest

Happy Monday!

If I had 3 Million Dollars...

... I'd have scooped up Jenna Lyon's Brooklyn Townhouse in a heartbeat, fully furnished.  Too bad it's under contract {not to mention my bank account is missing some necessary zeros}. How can we forget the famous yellow and gray living room, the kitchen's breakfast nook, dramatic dark bedroom walls and Jenna's dressing room. Girlfriend has more shoes than I have clothes, no joke!
Most of us have seen these images all over the blog-o-sphere but I'm posting again for both posterity and the uninitiated, enjoy!

In the Trenches

In last Saturday's Off Duty (that's the WSJ's non-business related section for those not in the know) Annette Tapert posed the question "What would you do if you had to replace your entire wardrobe?" in her article The Master Cleanse. She interviewed fashionistas and designers alike about what their key pieces would be in this process and it should come as no surprise that everyone agreed: a good trench coat is an absolute necessity.

I second this whole heartedly. Two years ago I was wonderfully fortunate to receive a Burberry Trench as a birthday gift and I can't even begin to quantify how much I love it. It's not so important who makes your trench but the way it fits you; a perfectly tailored coat gives you an instant confidence boost.

Not to mention they keep you dry when it's raining cats and dogs...  it is today. This image below is roughly how chic I looked during my 30 minute walking commute, I wish.
