Weekend Escape: Folly Beach, SC

Craving some beach time in a more relaxed and less pretentious atmosphere? Then head on down to Folly Beach, a bohemian getaway just a few miles from Charleston, S.C. This oceanfront cottage is the home of Charleston-based interior designer Amelia T. Handegan. Originally a tiny 1940s beach cottage, Handegan increased the square footage without sacrificing any of the rustic charm of the original.

In keeping with the original beach cottage aesthetic, painted pine boards and exposed rafters are used throughout.

I adore the color scheme used throughout the principal living area - soft oranges, pinks and neutrals. Love the rugs as well.

The perfect beach house kitchen, all the essentials in a completely unfussy space.
