Chandeliers Galore

Last weekend I went to the Metropolitan Opera House for the first time and was awed by the fabulous starburst chandeliers in both the entry lobby and the performance hall. Designed by Han Harald Rath these modern "sputniks" with their sparkling crystal constellations were donated by the Austrian government when the Met moved to Lincoln Center in 1966.

Inspired, I went in search of more amazing chandeliers. Here are some of my finds:

I love these first two sumptuous examples. The first has all the glamour of a traditional crystal tiered chandelier that has been deconstructed to give it an edgy twist. And, yes, the second picture is an upside-down umbrella.
